Dragon Age Inquisition (DA3)

The experience i felt from this game was simply ” Tremendous ” ! Bioware managed to create an Incredible Experience, which could look like skyrim at first, but when you dig deeper… it’s even richer and full of surprises ! I have played to all the episodes of Dragon Age, and before Inquisition the best was of course the first one ! But this time they managed to keep the best of every episodes ! The epic adventure of DA, the feeling of power from DA origins and the “Action” part of Dragon Age 2.

I just have two negative things to say about DA Inquisition

First… it’s that i spent at least 20 hours before enjoying this game ! Because Inquisition is so HUGE that at the very beginning you’re lost ! The Tactic Battle seems awful at first and then slowly begins to become very intuitive… to the point i was using it every time !

But before reaching 20 hours playing to DAI was ” A Pain in the Ass ” !

Second… The power system ! While i find that very interesting way to unlock new missions, or to build new structures to access some remote parts of the world… as i explored more than 95% of the game content, i had gathered more than 300 Power points that i have never been able to spend anywhere 🙁

You see i was thinking i would have been able to use these spare points, maybe by the end of the game to increase the power of my armies in a final HUGE Battle ? But NO 🙁 To my deepest sadness there was no such battle and all these points simply stayed in the pool ! Shame on you Bioware for this HUGE Final battle we never had… Such a game can only finish like the end of “Hobbit – the five armies” !

Unfortunately… The game was great but the end was released too quickly !

Apart from that… I’ve spent as much as 190 hours on It !

And i think i have never seen a RPG so full of content ! No really… it’s incredible how much they threw in DA Inquisition. It took a very long time before i managed to exhaust all the dialogs of every characters ! I mean in DA every person have a solid background you have to dig to unveil all the secrets. And in DA Inquisition you can literally spend 2 hours between missions to speak to your friends, and they will always have something NEW to say ! something that makes them UNIQUE.

I don’t know how many people worked on this game, but the result is ASTONISHING !

Let me put some screenshots before continuing…

There is no Level Cap in this game, the enemies do respawn… but the more you explore and conquer new portions of fields, the less the random encounters will happen. Also the opponents are giving less and less xp as you become stronger, that’s a good thing as you won’t gain anything from killing lvl 12 rogues if you’re already lvl 17. In fact it could look like as “if there is no challenge, there’s no xp” and i totally agree with that.

As you level up you’ll learn many powers, passive and active abilities ! But… you only got 8 slots for your quick powers, that means 8 active abilities that you can use with your Game pad. So choose them carefully… as all the remaining powers will be used or not, depending on the behavior you have configured for each team member. That could be frustrating for players having more active than passive abilities… That means for some of them, you’ll have to rely on the character’s behavior. Try to build your characters with a MAX of passive abilities !

And don’t smile if you’re a keyboard user… I am and the same limit applied !

Besides i’ve tryed to play with the mouse and keyboard, but it’s a painful experience and it’s “crystal clear” that the game was first designed for “consoles” ! So i quickly plugged in my xbox 360 controller for windows, and the game experience become much better ! If you want to play to DA inquisition without a game pad… good luck !

Let’s put some more screenshots…

There is so much content to explore in DA Inquisition, that one could think that it’s like buying a whole new game with some “DLCs” included for the same price ! Whatever the price you paid for this game, it was worth every dollars spent ! Because there are other famous games like the Elder’s Scrolls series, where quests are nearly unlimited… but the problem is these quests do not look genuine, as of course they’re coming out of a quest generator ! The little Plus of DA Inquisition is that EVERYTHING Looked Unique !

There is something interesting for nearly everything you come across… it’s like even the most insignificant quest is interesting ! Sometimes when you explore a HUGE area, you clean an enemy camp, and then on your travels while cleaning other camps, you encounter an enemy patrol that you defeat, and on which you can find “papers” where it’s written that “YOU have destroyed their camp, and they need to reinforce the others”. What i mean is even for little enemy camps, there are things added to the story line, and that’s why this game is so interesting !

It’s something i have never seen before in a RPG, but i guess Witcher 3 will have that in store too ! 😉

Some more screenshots as i have plenty of them in stock…

Every areas got a different level of difficulty, meaning you’ll have to come back later to explore some dark tunnel or hidden valley… as the level of random encounters will be far above yours ! The best example is about dragons ! There is a dragon ruling over it’s territory in every area, and generally you know you’re going towards his lair… as the fields around suddenly begins to look like a “no man’s land” ! desolated, scary landscape, broken trees or anything telling you it’s dangerous to continue this way ! Actually the first time you encounter a dragon… count on an instant death with just one breath lol 😀

A little like the Dark Souls series, the first time you’re dead lol !

But that’s a good way to tell the player “come back later when you learned more !”.

I also loved the concept of “closing rifts” ! your main avatar have the power to close them. They(re a threat as it’s an opening for the demons of the fade ! These rifts can range from very easy little demons, to very nasty creatures ! Most of these rifts are placed on strategic points on each maps, and they are like “waypoints” to access a remote part of the area. It’s actually a good way to prevent the player to go somewhere he should visit later in the game.

As an advice… take at least 2 spell casters with you with the “dispel” spell, as these demons from the fade take 5 seconds to enter the world of humans, and during this little time you can see the vortex… and dispel them ! That will kill the demons right away ! Some of the creatures are called “terrors”, they range from the lesser version to the elite version and these are quite a PAIN at the beginning… Later you can handle them more easily, but it’s always better to kill them before they appear !

Here is a new share of fresh screenshots !

Also i’d like to mention that the BETA TEST must have been very long, because it was rare to stumble upon a bug. I found about 10 bugs max in 190 hours of gameplay. Generally in such a huge game, you have to be ready for plenty of bugs… Well i had only the first update after the game was released, and it was perfectly playable from A to Z ! So Bioware must have worked hard on their “way to build games”, as from a Quality point of view, the whole project is clearly a Big Success !

With DA Inquisition, Bioware showed that they listened to their fans suggestions. They also took the “Console Turn” and that will upset for sure the keyboard/mouse players… But well, that’s for the best.

The difficulty i played on : NIGHTMARE (since the first episode)

Would i recommend it to a friend ? : I would actually offer it as a gift to a friend !

Did i pay for it ? : no… and i DO feel ashame. (I played with the cracked version from 3DM.)

Some last screenshots… but there is so much more to be seen !
