Fallout 4 Review – Goty Disappointment of 2016

Thanks Mercs215 on Pirate Bay for providing us the full game and patch Free of charge 😉

I would like to mention that i am a great fan of the fallout series since the 1st episode !

I loved Fallout, enjoyed a lot Fallout 2, found Fallout 3 to be Amazing ! And had great fun on Fallout New Vegas ! All of them were games that i was expecting to be good, and they all met my expectations and even far beyond ! So Fallout 4 was obviously a game i was waiting for, as were previously Dragon Age Inquisition and Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. (i have always been a big fan of rpgs)

I played for around 150 hours on Fallout 4

And in the end ? I felt a big disappointment, i felt like if something was missing… Fallout 4 was great ! Yes though i am going to explain my disappointment later… the game was very enjoyable !

I mean in terms of Open World… never before did i see such levels of details ! The Common Wealth is designed square by square ! Blocks after Blocks… I mean it’s hard to find one part of the map looking like another… I am sure you could pass an Authenticity Check on the Fallout 4 Map, and it would tell you that it’s more than 90% genuine ! What i want to explain you…

Is rarely have i seen a map so huge with so Unique Content !

Let’s put some first screenshots !

The crafting system is really fun too ! You can customize your weapons, pieces of armor and power armor in various ways. The good thing is… everything you can find throughout the wasteland, can be dismantled and re-used to craft new gear ! Adding to that, that the more complex things you’re trying to create the more experience points you’ll earn, make the crafting system of Fallout 4 something you’re going to spend hours on ! I did and never before did i invest so many points in Crafting Perks 😉

Speaking about Power Armor just above… do you know what this is ? yes i am sure if you’re a Veteran of Fallout, you know it’s a sort of exoskeleton military suit offering you high quality protection ! Well… in the previous episodes of Fallout, the Power Armor was something you could acquire… but not before spending HOURS and HOURS into the game !

It was designed as the most powerful armor you could get, as were the plasma weapons.

Well my first disappointment in the main plot of Fallout 4… and i am sure you know what i am going to speak about, if you played it even for just 5 hours… is that you can get this Power Armor right from the start at Level 1-2 ! Yes… the strongest protection you can wear can be found during the very first missions of the main plot… And guess what ? They give you that because you’re going to repel some raiders… but also a DEATHCLAW ! What’s a Deathclaw ? That’s basically the most dangerous Beast of the wasteland, that you should not encounter before level 30 at the very least…

And the devs are giving you that at Level 1 !

Guys… sorry but what were you smoking ? what were you thinking ? where is the pleasure in that ? At the very basic level, when you should begin by giving the player small pieces of leather to protect him, you’re giving him the opportunity to activate a Power Armor, and to fight one of the most dangerous enemies you can encounter… What’s the point ? Because after that… it’s going to be hard for the new player to go back to some little basic protections, when you already gave him a taste of the most powerful one !

Besides… i was playing in Survival mode… and killing this Deathclaw with small non-tweaked guns, and no perks yet to increase your damage output, was a pain in the ass ! I had to hide in the local buildings to shoot around 100+ more bullets on this fucking beast… This wasn’t fun at all… That was the first mistake made by Bethesda, giving the new player a taste of Super Protection and Super Villain !

Let’s put some more screenshots !

Fortunately.. the rest of the game will make you forget about this incident ! And as i already said earlier… the map of Fallout 4 is beautifully designed ! There have been a tremendous work on little details… So yeah you can feel inside your bones that you are exploring a part of the united states after the 3rd world war. Without a doubt… it looks real !

Wreckage of all sorts are not just put wherever they could find space to put them… If you take some time to look at it, it’s like they really simulated the power of an atomic bomb, and took that in consideration when placing everything. The result is you believe so much in it, that you could take screenshots if you were writing an article on Nuclear Bombs !

But can’t really say the same about Dialogues…

Concerning Dialogues… i am sorry but the reality you felt while exploring, is simply erased of your mind as soon as you speak with npcs… People are just not talking like that ! Let’s take your companions… god ! As soon as they like you, they’re all going for long monologues about their life, and you’re just listening to them like a child lol… no option to interrupt…

You’re just telling 3-4 sentences in the whole discussion, and the rest is just listening…

The most funny moments are when you’re activating the romance mode with your companions… every time they look surprised ! It’s like they never thought about it before, it’s like you’re the only human being thinking about it and all your companions are robots, that you have to educate in order to tell them “You know you’re capable of something else than killing super mutants” ? lol…

Frankly… it sounds to me the guys who designed these dialogues should fuck a little more ! or go out to see real life outside, because when you hear them speak… the voice actors are good to very good, that’s not the problem ! It’s just they’re actually voice acting over scripts, which have been created by people who should really take some courses of “how social life is working“… really !

Let’s put even more screenshots !

Hopefully once more… this is forgettable as Fallout 4 is more an Action oriented RPG ! And you’ll spend your entire game killing enemies in FPS mode or using VATS. It was a good idea to change the VATS which was stopping time before, to a kind of max payne slow motion forcing you to act faster ! And it’s true that every battles are interesting… yeah !

You can play a little every day to have your ration of kills to put a smile on your face 🙂

About the difficulty… i’ve played from A to Z in survival mode, and like in Skyrim with the Legendary mode it was hard at the start… and then it becomes easier as you level up ! I think the first Fallout 3 was far harder at the beginning, but as soon as you begin to bulk yourself with good gear, and put perks where you need them the most like damage output with your favorite weapons, and damage resistance… The game will become considerably easier ! 😉

Not to mention that… there ARE FAR TOO MANY chemicals and stimpaks disseminated around the common wealth ! You can use them as much as you like, you’ll never run out of stock. Not a good thing on a challenge point of view. You see… I took my time to finish the main plot, as i completed plenty of side quests. And by 150 hours of gameplay, i had 267 stimpaks in my backpack ! And i ever bought a single one ! I had maybe 70 Radway and Rad-X for radiations, 50 Psychos and Med-X for combat, and even more Mentats for aiming precision !! Not speaking about my caps account which was superior to 35K…

All of this made the game largely too easy even in Survival mode ! And i don’t even mention the fact that i refused to wear the power armor before almost 100 hours of gameplay ! I did that on purpose to take more damage and use stimpaks and chems more often lol ! Because as soon as i began to use my (nearly) full set of X1 Power Armor, improved to the maximum with Booster Jet in the back… it was like i was Chuck Norris ! Nothing could stand in front of me lol… Battles were becoming a joke !

Even the battle against the Brotherhood of Steel was a piece of cake ! Yeah i went for the institute way because i thought i should continue the work of my son… Well guess what ! Even against an army of guys in Power Armors, i just brought Big Guns like Auto-Targeted Missile Launcher with Max Perk in Heavy Weapons… and one enemy was down every 3 seconds, power armored or not…

Survival mode challenging ? yeah… maybe… not at all for me !

And all of this… just for that ?

When i finished Dragon Age Inquisition… it was like i had enjoyed the best hours of my life in a video game ! When i finished Witcher 3 it was like i had broken with a girl… it was hard ! But when i finished the main plot of Fallout 4… it was like… What ?… so much for that ?

Yeah i felt betrayed by Bethesda ! What is this shitty ending for fuck sake ? Guys i have been playing to your game for nearly 150 hours ! You can’t simply serve me an ending with 4-5 pictures in black and white with a “War… war never changes” ! And then what ? As after the main plot was over… I was forced to kill every other factions but the minutemen ! So what do you want me to do now ? no possible diplomacy with the other factions… Because they’re all dead !

Exploring the common wealth ? but i am doing that since 150 hours already ! And trust me i took my time or the main plot could have been fucked in largely less ! No frankly… i am Disappointed ! “What to do after the main plot of Fallout 4” is a sentence you’re going to read a lot if you google it ! Well… you’re just going to do the same thing over and over… explore… kill… loot… nothing new !

More and more screenshots please !

In fact this main plot… this trail we’re following to retrieve our son is not really the most interesting part !

Fallout 4 is an Open World like never before… where you shouldn’t think about achieving your primary goal, if you don’t want to be disappointed. You should even see the quest to retrieve your son as a side quest ! Because as soon as you finish the main plot, you’ll be forced to choose a side which is going to ruin the better part of the game… and you’ll end up with auto-generated quests for the faction you have chosen.

I haven’t played to the DLCs yet, but i have read on the net that they were very good.
Well as i kept my savegames i’ll give them a try one day.

The difficulty i played on : Survival and it’s hard for only 20 hours.

How long is this game : ~150 hours for me but i took my time.

Would i recommend it to a friend ? : Yes… but disappointing ending.

Did i pay for it ? : No… Thanks Pirate Bay !
